When we spoke yesterday about the town centre I had underestimated the number of shop closures. Difficult to think it will get back to "normal" very soon. We spoke about the agricultural situation - Photos of cabbage harvest….Each Cabbage is cut and placed in the boxes you see by hand. The work started at 7am on a dull misty Saturday morning.

As you can see working conditions are not ideal and it shows perhaps why some of the social distancing rules appear to being ignored in the town. All the workers are migrants.

George is a white man in his 60s. He identifies as British middle-class. He lives in a market town in the East Midlands. George voted to leave the EU.

the city centre is dead

 

I don’t know how small businesses…the local economy, circular economy, I don’t know how that plays out. The city centre is dead. It looks like we’ll just go into Tier 3 and so will the pubs and cafes, and I mean [name of city] is really going to struggle.
